26.–27. Juni 2018 | June 26th - 27th, 2018

For more than 15 years the Frankfurt Media Law Days have presented and discussed the current situation and the development of freedom of the Media as well as media in Eastern and Southeastern Europe compared to Germany. The pressure by the Polish government on independent, critically reporting media, the assassination of a corruption investigating journalist in the Slovak Republic, the re-election of President Orbán who is restricting the media freedom in his country drastically, as well as the enforced conformity of the remaining media in Turkey prove the unaltered negative prospects for the freedom of the media in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. The opening of the branch in Frankfurt (Oder) - the South East Europe Association in cooperation with the Article 10 EMRK working group - was the opportunity to sum up the current situation and to discuss connecting factors for the development of strategies supporting the freedom of the media at the 15th Frankfurt Days on Media Law by June 26th – 27th 2018.
